Before moving to Berlin in 2006, she worked in Madrid as architecture designer and drawer, she also worked in advertisement agencies as a creative and web developer.

Mixed media artist, drawer, photographer and filmmaker, with an extensive background developing videos, animations, and web content for clients in art, architecture and fashion, Maru arrived at her practice with an aesthetic sense in the art of challenge the perception of tenderness, solitude, nostal- gia, seduction, and desire.

Her artworks often show the privacy of the loneliness in relationships between women and places.

The backgrounds in architecture and film stron- gly influence their approach to spatial concerns, surrounding and reflecting the self-image.

On the translation of photography into Painting, Maru ́s subject deals between reality and color- texture results.

Blending abstraction and realism, her work inte- rrogates concepts in historical and contempo- rary identity and tries to reflect her self-image.

Her influences include some sediments of Primiti- ve and Pre Colonialism art and mathematical geometric Structures.

Her works are selected in many contests and join Collections as “La Calcografía Nacional” Spain’s national archive of engravings and etchings

She also teaches contemporary art. Worked in 2005 in Educathyssen Thyssen Bornemisza Mu- seum Madrid developing new projects to bring children closer to Contemporary Art.

MARU CARRANZA TALAVANTE

Born in Madrid, currently living and working in Berlin, Tel Aviv and Madrid.

Graduated in 2005, completed her degree in Fine Arts from the Universidad Complutense Madrid with the following specialities: drawing, photography, visual communication and silkscreen printing.

Graduate courses in art direction, scriptwriting, film and tv (Communication sciences, marketing and publicity High Institute, UCM)
